I do not usually post links to CLE's but I thought this might be helpful for some clients. In my experience, poor documentation is one of the leading causes of the failure of a claim or the amount awarded not being maximized. Clients that have their documents in perfect order are in a much better position to prevail in a dispute. Further, having the project and claim well documented can often cut down on litigation costs.

ReplyDeleteI like your post and couldn't agree more. I also work with many builders and contractors and the phrase "why do they call them contractors when you can't get a contract from them?" unfortunately is not a stretch.
My business; financing constrution and renovations frequently leads to the Government renovation products in this market. (HUD's 203K product, FNMA's Homestyle product) Most contractors can not, or opt out of handeling the required paperwork - which is not that tough. The process basicly just requires everything be done "right". Kudos to you for being an advocate
